In a 300 dpi printer, printing an image that is 8.00 X 10.5 inches(this allows for a 1/4 inch margin on each side) requires approximately 945,000 bytes of data. RAM REQUIREMENTS for a Full Page 300 DPI Printout 1) 8.00 X 10.5 inches = 84 square inches of printable area (maximum) 2) 300 X 300 dots per inch = 90,000 dots per sqaure inch (maximum) 3) 90,000 X 84 square inches of printable area = 7,560,000 dots 4) 7,560,000 dots = 7,560,000 bits of data 5) 7,560,000 bits of data / 8 (8 bits = 1 byte) = 945,000 bytes of data **As resolution doubles (300dpi to 600 dpi), RAM requirements quadruple. Why? When resolution doubles, double both the verticle and horizontal dots per inch. An example, 600 X 600 = 360,000 dots per inch, a quadrupling of density. So a file that would require 1 MEG of RAM in 300 dpi would require 4 MEG in 600 dpi Product(s): | | C7200; C7200-RealEstate; C7200n; C7200n-RealEstate; C7400DXn; C7400n; OKICOLOR8; OKICOLOR8cccs; OKICOLOR8n |
