What is the "REG FINE ADJUST" Menu Setting Used For?

The REG FINE ADJUST setting in the printer's menu can be used to move the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow printing templates with respect to the Black printing template.

• CYAN REG FINE ADJUST
• MAGENTA FINE ADJUST
• YELLOW FINE ADJUST

Each of the above items can be individually set to values between -3 and +3 (The default setting for each is zero).

Incrementing the value of REG FINE ADJUST items will move the respective printing template in the opposite direction to the paper path direction. Basically, increasing the REG FINE ADJUST value moves the respective printing template down the page in the opposite direction to the paper path.

For example, if an image such as Diagram 1 has been printed and the user wishes to align the magenta and black printing templates more accurately (to remove the white gap) then the MAGENTA REG FINE ADJUST value should be increased from the current setting.

Diagram 1

In order to correct the problem shown in Diagram 1, the MAGENTA FINE ADJUST setting should be increased (+). This will move the magenta printing template down the printed page (in the opposite direction to the paper path) so that the black and magenta printing templates are more closely aligned.

Diagram 2

Diagram 2 demonstrates the result of increasing the MAGENTA FINE ADJUST to a +2. By increasing MAGENTA FINE ADJUST to a +2, you can see how the magenta printing template has been moved down the page in the opposite direction to the paper path.

Diagram 3 (shown below) demonstrates the direction of movement of the CMY printing templates in respect to the black printing template.

Diagram 3

NOTE:
It should be noted that one unit of adjustment (+ / -) under the REG FINE ADJUST menu item corresponds to 1/1,200th inch (= 21.17 microns) of movement for the respective color template.
Lastly, the values entered by the user for each of the REG FINE ADJUST menu items is used as an offset value for the color registration settings measured by the printer during its "Auto Color Registration".
