The printer might be printing slow, pausing in between print jobs, or intermittent printing. The printer is unpacked and the supplies and accessories are installed . The printer is then, connected to the power source, and USB or parallel cable to the PC. The Found New Hardware wizard pops up on the screen and the user browses the CD-ROM to complete the installation. The user is unaware this is the incorrect installation for the USB port. Steps to Resolve Issue Insert the HP LaserJet 2400 print series CD-ROM. NOTE: If the HP Software does not automatically start, click Start, Run, and then Browse. Browse to the CD-ROM drive at the top of the window under look in and select Setup.exe. Select Modify Installation. Figure1: Modify Installation

Verify Reinstalling an existing printer is selected. Under Select the port for this printer, choose USB001 or Dot4_00x and click Next. Figure 4: Choose Port 
Select desired Features and click Next. Figure 5: Select Next

Modify Installation is Not Available First verify if an uninstall options is available. If an uninstall option is available under Start, Programs, HP LaserJet 2410 2420 2430, use this method, to uninstall the printer. If the uninstaller is not available, run the scrubber. The scrubber can be located by browsing the CD-ROM. The full path is listed as X:TemptcescrbrScrubber.exe *(where X: will be the CD-ROM drive on the PC.) © 2005 Hewlett-Packard
