After installing Duplex Option with Bypass Tray, Printer does not Recognize the Correct Paper Size

The image on the paper is skewed when feeding from the bypass tray. A paper misfeed occurs in the bypass tray.

The correct paper detection level value was not entered to the printer or the paper guide position adjustment was not performed correctly on the unit.  This cause the paper width sensor not to work correctly.

Perform the following adjustments:

Correction Value entry procedures Press and hold the [MENU] key and the [OK] key together , and turn the power switch ON.

Press the [MENU] key ten times to display "SIZE ADJUSTMENT A". Press the [^] arrow key to display " SIZE ADJUSTMENT B", and press the [OK] key.

"MAXIMUM SIZE" is displayed.

- Since "MAXIMUM SIZE" is displayed with a number, press the [UP] arrow or [DOWN] arrow to change the number so that the number is equal to value of [MAX] written on the label (*NOTE) and then press the [OK] key.

*NOTE: This label is located on the back surface of the bypass extension tray.

Since "P1 SIZE" is displayed with a number, press the [UP] arrow or [DOWN] arrow to change the number so that the number is equal to value of [P1] written on the label (*NOTE) and then press the [OK] key.

Since "P2 SIZE" is displayed with a number, press the [UP] arrow or [DOWN] arrow to change the number so that the number is equal to value of [P2] written on the label (*NOTE) and then press the [OK] key.

Since "MINIMUM SIZE" is displayed with a number, press the [UP] arrow or [DOWN] arrow to change the number so that the number is equal to value of [MIN] written on the label (*NOTE) and then press the [OK] key.

Turn the unit OFF to exit the setting mode.

Perform the following adjustments:

 Alignment of the paper guide plate and the size mark procedures.

Press and hold the [MENU] key and the [OK] key together , and turn the power switch ON.

Press the [MENU] key ten times to display "ADJUSTMENT A". Press the [^] arrow key to display " SIZE ADJUSTMENT C", and press the [OK] key.

"MAXIMUM SIZE" is displayed. Move the manual paper feed guide to the maximum position , and press the [OK] key.

"P1 SIZE" is displayed. Move the manual paper feed guide to the size mark 8-1/2 on the manual paper feed tray upper, and press the [OK] key.

"P2 SIZE" is displayed. Move he manual paper feed guide to the size mark of 5-1/2 on the manual paper feed tray upper, and press the [OK] key.

"MINIMUM SIZE" is displayed. Move the manual paper feed guide to the all the way to the center, and press the [OK] key.

Turn the unit OFF to exit the setting mode.
