A 13.7 jam message for an HP Color LaserJet 4500 printer or a 13.20 jam message for an HP Color LaserJet 4550 printer is caused by jammed media or other foreign object blocking one or more sensors when the printer is powered on. Check specifically to see if PS2 and PS7 are blocked or malfunctioning. Parts required (part numbers are subject to change) Middle Front Drawer (ITB drawer assembly) C7085-69006 110V Fuser C7085-69004 Delivery paper sensor (PS7)* FH7-7313-000CN Follow the troubleshooting steps to isolate the cause for the error message. 1. Check the registration sensor flag (PS2) in the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) drawer. 2. Open the ITB drawer. 3. Remove the ITB. 4. Push down on PS2 to see if the sensor pops back into the home position. 5. Lift up the registration flap (Figure 1, call-out 2) and verify that no media or foreign object is present. 6. Remove the ITB drawer, turn it upside down, and check the bottom of PS2. 7. Verify that nothing is blocking the sensor and that the sensor is connected properly. 1- PS2 2- Registration flap 1. Check the sensor flag on the fuser. 2. Remove the fuser from the rear of the printer. 3. Look at the sensor flap on the base of the fuser and verify that nothing is binding the flag. It should move freely. 4. Check PS7 on the printer. See Figure 2. 5. Verify that no media or foreign object is blocking this sensor. 6. Check and reseat connection J110 on the Paper Feed PCB. 7. The Paper Feed PCB is located under the left-side cover. NOTE: The sensor flag on the bottom of the fuser activates PS7 on the printer. Figure 2: View of PS7 after the rear door is lowered and the fuser has been removed
