Paper is found crumpled in a Z-fold or accordion type jam. The most common way to identify this type of jam would be output with a vertical strip of missing print inside the Z-fold, when viewed in portrait orientation, on a letter size sheet of paper. This jam condition may also show an error message of 13.3 for the LaserJet 5si, or 13.5 for the LaserJet8000, 8100 and 8150 printers. The paper is usually found crumpled under the print cartridge. The paper path rollers are controlled by independent clutches acting on a single page. If one clutch fails (hesitates, stalls, sticks etc.), the result can be a Z-fold of various degrees. There are several possible suspect areas: Second pass rollers, Registration roller Tray 1 pickup roller, Registration roller Vertical Transfer Unit (VTU) entry rollers, VTU exit rollers Paper Input Unit (PIU) Tray 4, VTU TRAY 4 (Usually only seen when duplexing)
