Clearing Jams from the Registration/Transfer Area (Area 4)

Lift the latch on the printer front door and open the door.

CAUTION: Do not place anything on the surface of the transfer unit. Also, do not touch the transfer unit contacts located on the left side of the unit.

Remove the transfer unit by grasping the blue handles on both sides of the transfer unit. With your right thumb, press and hold the lever on the right side handle then lift the handle up, followed by lifting the left side. Set the unit aside on a flat surface. Be careful not to touch the black, upper surface (transfer belt) of the unit.

Remove the yellow and magenta cartridges from the printer by grasping the blue handle on the cartridge and pulling it upward and out.

Close the front door approximately half-way, matching the arrow on the right door bracket with the arrow on the inside of the printer.

Remove any visible paper from inside the printer's transfer area.

Locate the top, flat bar and pull up on the white tab marked with black dots to raise the bar to a vertical position. The bar will remain vertical.

NOTE: Do not touch the registration sensor lenses.

Raise the bottom media sensor bar by pulling on the white tabs marked with the black dots, located on either side of the sensor.

NOTE: Do not touch the registration sensor lenses or the media sensor.

While holding the media sensor bar upright, remove any visible pieces of paper.

When the paper is removed, lower the bottom media sensor bar back down into place.

Swing the top, flat bar down into place over the bottom media sensor bar.

Open the front door to its fully open position and reinstall the yellow and magenta cartridges.

Reseat the transfer unit by holding the blue handles and inserting the left side first. Align the two holes in the transfer unit with the pegs on the printer door and lower the unit into place.

CAUTION: Do not touch the black surface (transfer belt) or the contacts on the left side of the transfer unit.

Close the front door.
