HP Color LaserJet 3500, 3550, and 3700 Series Printers - 10.92.yy Error Displayed When Printer is Powered On This error refers to the cartridge not engaging correctly. The error may include any of the following: 10.92.00 10.92.01 10.92.02 10.92.03 NOTE: 10.92 can be caused by lack of lube in the image drive assembly. Please see service note Q1321A-05 , Q1322A-05 , Q1323A-05 , Q1324A-05 , Q1320A-05 , or Q1319A-05 depending on the printer model and check serial number range. There are several issues that can cause this. The cartridges not seated properly. A broken ITB coupling lever on the front door (front door engaging tab). (Figure 1) The copper contact on the left side of the ITB may be stuck, pressed into the ITB. (Figure 2) The right-side cleaning blade shipping tab out of position. (Figure 3) Broken Cartridge alignment knob (triangle shaped piece) on the shaft of the Print Cartridge. (Figure 4) A damaged shutter arm on a cartridge. A bent or missing contact on Developing Contact Assembly or Left frame assembly. (Figure 5) A missing spring in the cartridge alignment knob or broken cartridge alignment knob. (Figures 6, 7, and 8) Left rail guide is out of place, misaligned, or missing. (Figure 9, 10, and 11) Left arm drum lock is broken. (Figure 12) Image Drum Assembly not aligning. (Figure 13) HVPS connector is not plugged in securely at the DC Controller or HVPS. Transfer contact assembly is not seated correctly. (This is more likely to happen after changing this part). When the error message is displayed and the front door is difficult to close, it could be due to a missing spring the on the cartridge alignment knob or broken cartridge alignment knob, Image Drum assembly gears not aligning, or broken ITB coupling lever on the front door. It may also prevent one or more of the cartridge shutters from opening. This can be identified by closing the door to about 1.5 to 2 inches from fully closed and watching the cartridges. If one or more do not close then a broken alignment knob should be suspect. If the front door will not close, then an ITB coupling lever could be the issue. If the coupling lever is missing or damaged, the image drive assembly will fail to engage the black print cartridge and ITB. See the photo below for location of ITB coupling lever. (Figure 1) The right-side cleaning blade shipping tab on the ITB may be out of position as shown in Call-out 2 in the ITB photo below. (Figure 2) The error could also be a broken Cartridge alignment knob on the Print Cartridge shaft (triangle shaped piece) or a bent or missing contact on the Developing Contact Assembly. When the Print Cartridges are removed, check the end of each to see if the triangle piece on the end of the shaft is missing. If the cartridges are OK, check the contacts that engage with the Print Cartridge on the Developing Contact Assembly located behind the swing arm assembly toward the back of the printer and the left swing frame.
