Auto Select (Tray) Feature - HP Compatibility Problem |
|
Symptom: HP Auto Select (Tray) Feature not working in HP PCL mode. Cause: Compatibility problem in HP PCL mode. Resolution: Use PostScript mode. This solution will only work if the printer has a PostScript mode. The Auto Select (Tray) feature allows print jobs to be directed to the correct paper tray without the customer having to select a Paper Tray Source in the application even though the paper size changes in the print job. This applies to our Page Printers that have either a built-in 100 sheet front feeder or an Optional 2nd Tray installed. It will be necessary to set the correct Paper Size in the Menu Mode for all models that use the either the built-in 100 sheet Front Feeder or Optional 100 sheet Multi-Purpose Feeder. You will also need to set the correct Paper Size in the Menu Mode for models that have a 2nd Paper Tray installed (the only exception will be for those models that automatically sense correct paper sizes (OL1200, OP16n, OP20, and OP8c). Customer can use either a HP PostScript Driver that has Auto Select (example "HP LaserJet 4 / 4M PostScript") or Okidata PostScript driver. This solution has been tested on the following models: OL810e/PS, OP20 (all models) with PostScript option, OP8c, and OP8cn.
