Oki Print Driver Compatibility With Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0

Oki Data printers have been checked for their operation and are supported with MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0 software in the environments listed below. The printer drivers that have been verified can be downloaded from the Oki Data web site, for the specific client Operating

System. 1. Evaluation Environment

Server Operating System, Client OS and Citrix Presentation Server versions used in the evaluation:

Windows 2000 Server, SP4, MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0
Windows 2003 Server, Stanadard Edition, MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0
Client: Win XP ICA8.00.24737 (XP client version)

Note: Full Evaluation conducted with Win 2003 Server, less extensive testing conducted using Win 2000 Server

2. Evaluation Result

Same test results were observed with Presentation Server 3.0 as with MetaFrame XP with FR3. No problems were encountered.

No server OS (Windows 2003 Server / Windows 2000 Server)”environment dependent” differences observed, and no problems observed.

Verified operation without problem in new models and existing models listed above.

Graphical (GUI) function test:

Network printers => OK
Client printers => OK

Same result as FR3

Universal printer driver (HP CLJ4500) operation check result

Confirmed that in each driver, universal printer driver (UPD) is automatically created, correctly.
Confirmed that color printers could print in color.
Confirmed that there was no problem when printing text and images.

Note: Up until FR3, UPD print result was incorrect, but in this test, the result
is OK
There’s a tendency for print data to increase when going through UPD (raster conversion), thus, tendency for print job to take longer to print when using UPD.

Note: In UPD up to FR3, incorrect printing occurred frequently in images. In this test however, this phenomenon was not observed. It is unknown, however, whether correct print data is generated without failure because raster conversion is involved. As a result, Oki recommends that a native driver be used, not UPD.

Restrictions

No new restrictions / limitations were observed compared to testing with Metaframe xp and FR3

Restrictions from FR3 testing restated

The 5100 / 5200 series can be used as a local or network printer which is a printer that is directly connected to the MetaFrame server, or a printer that is connected to the print server and shared on the Windows network.

Please be advised that the 5100 / 5200 series cannot be used as a client printer (that is displayed in the Printers folder of the client computer).

1. Restrictions for client printers that are automatically created

At the time of auto creation, client printer settings are not inherited, except for some items. Items such as “options” need to be set after auto creation.

The following client setting items are inherited in auto creation:

Paper size (excluding user defined size and custom size)
Resolution or print quality
Print orientation (Portrait / Landscape)
Copies
Scale

The printer settings that were created automatically are restored when it is reconnected.

Note: In MetaFrameXP Feature Release2 and later releases, if the item “Refresh printer setting at log on” is set to “ON” in the Printer Management Properties on the management console, the above items are updated according to the client side settings. Other items retain the state of the previous login.
