Symptom: After being connected to the network and printing fine for long or short periods of time, the printer suddenly disconnects from the network and all print jobs are backed up in the queue. The printers displays "On-Line" - "Power-Saving". The NIC configuration page will not print after pressing the test button on the NIC. Cause: Code Red Worm Virus. This virus only affects servers and when it hits our print server it causes our processor to overrun itself. This locks up the print server and requires a re-boot to resolve. If the Code Red Virus is not removed from the networks servers this will be repeated again. Virus sends a URL consisting of more than 254 characters which the print server is unable to process. Resolution: You can disable the virus' ability to find our IP on the Network. Change the web based port 80 (HTTP) to a higher number such as 90. 1. From your web browser, go to the printer's WEB menu.(Type in the IP address of the print server) 2. On the LEFT panel menu, select Login as Admin 3. Enter your user name and password: The OKI default (which for sure should be changed during installation) is: User Name: admin Password: OkiLAN (case sensitive) 4. On the LEFT panel menu, select Admin(Web) 5. In the main browser window you will see some prompts. Change the HTTP Port number from 80 to something other than 80, and click Submit. 6. In the BOTTOM panel you will be advised that you need to reset the OkiLAN port for changes to take effect, click on the link and Reset the LAN Adaptor. In order to access the printer via a browser again, you must ADD ":port number" to the end of your web address line of your browser. ie( 182.31.10.101: 90 ) ©2005 Oki Data Americas, Inc.
