Printers Pause Between Pages

When printing to an HP Color LaserJet or LaserJet series printer using the PostScript emulation driver, after a period of time the printers will start to pause between printed pages. It is necessary to power-cycle the printers in order to resume printing at normal speeds. However, the issue re-occurs after a period of time.

Reconfigure the RAM disk from "AUTO" to "ON" and specify that the value of the RAM disk be 1 MB less than was allocated when previously set to "AUTO".

The printer's Driver Work Space (DWS) values were moving to "0". DWS represents the amount of available memory that the printer has after allocating portions of its total memory for things, such as, installed accessories, personalities (languages), IO buffering, Resource Savings, and RAM disk. When the available memory was zero, the printers would display performance issues.

Factors relating to the source of the issues could be:
• Not having hard disks installed
• Having a RAM disk set to "AUTO"
• Printing with PostScript Emulation only
