Printer Keeps Printing the Previous Job Along with the Current Job

In order to troubleshoot the issue, perform the following steps:

Stop and restart the spooler. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Stop the spooler:

a. Click Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services .

b. Scroll down the list of services for Print Spooler .

c. Right-click Print Spooler , and click Stop .

2. Delete the spool files:

a. Click My Computer .

b. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ .

c. Delete all the files inside this folder.

NOTE: If the spooler is working correctly, this folder should be empty when the computer is not printing. It normally deletes these files out of this folder after they have been sent to the printer. Deleting files that are stuck can free up the spooler and allow it to continue normal operation.

3. Restart the spooler:

a. Click Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services .

b. Scroll down the list of services for Print Spooler .

c. Right-click Print Spooler , and click Start .

If the issue still persists, follow these steps:

Disable the bi-directional support on the printer driver which tells the spooler not to use any language monitor. The language monitor is used to spool the pages sent to the printer and send them in a specific order to the printer.

To disable the bi-directional support in the printer driver, perform the following steps:

a. From the Microsoft Windows XP desktop, select Start , Printers and Faxes .

b. Right-click the HP LaserJet driver icon, and then click Properties .

c. Select the Ports tab.

d. Uncheck the box next to Enable Bidirectional Support .

e. Click Apply (if applicable).

f. Click OK to exit the driver properties.
