Auto Tray Selection

The B4200 and B4300 can have different size paper automatically selected using the PCL (HP) driver. With our previous page printers, this feature only worked when using the Postscript driver.

For example:
Tray 1 has 8.5" x 11" paper size installed.
Tray 2 has 8.5" x 14" paper size installed.

Set your software application Paper Source to Automatically Select. Ensure the Printers Menu * "Media Menu" paper size setting for Tray 1 is set for 8.5"x 11" and Tray 2 is set to 8.5" x 14". (Refer to your Users Guide to navigate the printers menu.) Printing a document that has 8.5' x 11" selected as the paper size will print from Tray 1. Printing a document that has 8.5" x 14" selected as the paper size will print from Tray 2.

* For the B4200 use the status monitor to set the Printers Menu Paper Size.

Auto Tray Switch

The B4200 and B4300 also has the Auto Tray Switch feature. Auto Tray Switch will automatically select a usable tray that has paper when the one presently in use becomes empty. This feature only works when the Auto Tray Switch is selected and the paper size being used is the same for all usable paper trays.
