The color plane registration issue is incorrectly diagnosed or described as one of the following: Ghosting Smudging Blurry Distorted Fuzzy In some instances, the black text on the page may be described as fine but the color text and graphics may not look as they should. This is an "out of box" print quality issue in most instances. the following is an example of the issue:
Perform the following troubleshooting prior to concluding that a consumable, part, or the printer needs to be replaced. Check the firmware version of the formatter and engine. Upgrade firmware if necessary. Click Here http://www.laserquipt.com/support/idx/132/572/article/How-to-Perform-a-Firmware-Update-.html for instructions on how to upgrade printer firmware. Print a configuration page. Press the (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Reports and then press (SELECT). Press the (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Config Report and then press (SELECT) to print the Configuration Report. Check the color plane registration lines at the bottom left corner of the configuration page.
All of the L-shaped lines should be an equal distance from each other and the top of the colored lines should all start at the same horizontal point. This is a normal, calibrated, configuration of these lines. If the lines deviate from normal, then calibrate the printer using the Calibrate Now feature on the control panel of the printer. Calibrate the printer at least three times if the color registration lines noticeably deviate from normal. Press the (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads System setup and then press (SELECT). Press the (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Print quality and then press (SELECT). Press the (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Calibrate color and then press (SELECT). Press the (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) button until the display reads Calibrate now and then press (SELECT). Press the (SELECT) button to confirm Calibrate now. Print a second configuration page and check the color plane registration (CPR) lines again. If the lines look normal, print a document or picture from the computer and check the print quality of the page. NOTE: The document or picture must have some colored text or a colored picture as part of the content to properly check the color plane registration. If after performing three calibrations, the CPR lines on the configuration sheet do not show improvement, inspect the ETB for packing material, or damaged or loose parts.
