Small and Medium Businesses Get 'Big' Features with New Xerox Network Printer, Starting at $549

Phaser 3500 offers faster speed at lower cost
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Sept. 12, 2005  -- Expanding its line of products for small to midsized businesses and workgroups in companies of all sizes, Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has introduced a new network printer starting at $549 and offering faster speeds and more powerful features than similarly priced competitive products from Hewlett-Packard and others.

The Phaser™ 3500 black-and-white laser printer operates at print speeds up to 35 pages-per-minute and is designed to accommodate up to 25 networked users. Its printing speed; 100,000 page per month duty cycle; and 500-sheet standard paper capacity are all available for $100 less than HP's 35-ppm offering.

"Small businesses face tight IT budgets, and the Phaser 3500 was built with that in mind," said Tim Williams, president, Xerox Office Group. "We've brought 'big printer' features and performance - like high print speed, networking capabilities and two-sided printing options - to a compact device that allows small and midsized workgroups to accomplish large tasks."

The Phaser 3500 can quickly tackle large print jobs with a 400 MHz processor and a first-page-out time as fast as 10 seconds. The professional image quality of documents printed on the Phaser 3500 is made possible with 1,200 dpi resolution.

The maximum paper capacity of up to 1,100 sheets ensures workers can stay productive and avoid constantly refilling printer paper. Postscript 3/PCL6 printer language streamlines graphics and font commands, reducing the amount of information sent to the printer and lowering network traffic.

The printer is equipped with simple network installation software and printer management tools including CentreWare Internet Services, an embedded Web server that helps people administer and manage the printer. PhaserSMART, an online diagnostic tool, helps people troubleshoot problems in real time. PrintingScout software alerts users to the status of print jobs and suggests actions when printing is interrupted.

The Phaser 3500 comes with the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee and is available immediately worldwide through Xerox resellers, authorized sales agents, dealers, direct sales, concessionaires and 800-ASK-XEROX. The Phaser 3500 is also available online at www.xerox.com/direct.

The Phaser 3500 comes on the heels of a major Xerox office product launch in June, when 24 multifunction systems and network color printers were rolled out. More than 95 percent of Xerox's office portfolio has been refreshed in the past 24 months.

Xerox's office line includes color and black-and-white printers, digital copiers and multifunction systems with starting prices ranging from $349 to $46,495 and speeds of 10 ppm to 90 ppm.
