When loading standard size paper (such as A4 or letter) in Tray 2, Tray 3, or Optional Tray 4, the printer automatically detects the size loaded and displays the size on the control panel. It is not necessary to set the size manually.
NOTE: Make sure the Custom switch is set to Standard when loading trays with standard size paper.
When loading a custom (non-standard) size in Tray 2, Tray 3, or Optional Tray 4, use the control panel to configure the printer to recognize the size loaded.
Trays 2, 3 and (optional) Tray 4 all have a Custom/Standard switch used to inform the printer if the paper contained in the tray is a Custom or Standard size. Setting this switch to "Custom" means the user can then manually define the size of the paper loaded in the tray, through the Control Panel menus. However, if using this method, be aware that these manually defined sizes will reset to the "ANY" size when the printer is power cycled.
