Additional Tray Options (Multipurpose Drawer) Does not Recognize the Correct Paper Size Loaded in the Printer

With the Multipurpose Tray, 1500 High Capacity Tray, or 2500 High Capacity Tray Options, the Multipurpose Second Tray drawer does not recognize the paper size; and in the custom settings list the paper size never changes from (EXTRA) to the actual paper size.

NOTE: The single or top tray on each of these three options is referred to as the "Multipurpose Tray" because it can be calibrated to feed various paper sizes.

The paper guide position adjustment was never performed to correctly calibrate the tray settings to allow using custom size paper.

Perform the following adjustment:

Turn the power switch on while pressing and holding both the [MENU] and the [OK] key of the of operator panel of the main unit of the printer. Display will read "PLU Diag Mode".

Press the [MENU] key TEN times to display "SIZE ADJUSTMENT A" and press the [OK] key.

"MAXIMUM SIZE" is displayed on the operation panel.
Stand on the operator panel side of the main printer unit before continuing with the adjustment.
Pull out the Multipurpose paper tray (depending on the option installed) and extend the guides to the maximum
based on the picture below.

For the GREEN horizontal guide, squeeze on both sides of the guide at the same time and move the guide outward to the
outer edge of the tray.
The vertical guide is adjusted by squeezing and holding the GREEN guide while moving the guide toward you (widest
position).

Notice the final position of the GREEN guides in the picture below.

Now return the paper tray into the main unit and press the [OK] key.
"MINIMUM SIZE" is displayed on the operator panel.
Pull out the paper tray again and narrow the paper guides to the minimum.

Squeeze the GREEN horizontal guide on both sides at the same time and move the guide inward.
The vertical guide is adjusted by squeezing and holding the GREEN guide while moving the guide upward.

Notice the position of the GREEN guides in the picture below.

Now return the paper tray into the main unit and press the [OK] key.
To exit the setting mode, power off the printer.

For testing purposes please install letter size paper in tray 2.

After completing the paper guide position adjustment you can check to see if the adjustment corrected the problem by printing the custom settings list and looking to see if TRAY:2 now says "LETTER" instead of "EXTRA".

Procedures for printing the Custom Settings List.
Press the [MENU] key twice on the operator panel display [CUSTOM SETTINGS].
Press the [OK] key once display [TRAY SETTING].
Press the ^ arrow three times display [PRINT LIST].
Press [OK] twice the operator panel display will flash [READY] then [PRINT CUSTOM SETTING LIST].
The unit will print out a copy of the custom settings list.
