If a user fills Tray 4 with a full stack (204mm) of media that weighs more than approximately 50 lbs total weight, the motor on the deck drive assembly may begin to make a whining/grinding noise as the stack lifts. The result will vary, depending on the serial number of the Tray 4. Serial number below THBLB33331: The Deck Drive Assembly will keep lifting (or attempting to lift) until 45 seconds has passed from when lifting first started, then a 66.11.00 error will appear and coupling on the Deck Drive Assembly will likely fail. NOTE: Serial numbers above THBLB33331, or if the serial number is below THBLB33331. The newer Deck Drive Assembly installed on the Tray 4 will withstand the torque applied when lifting this heavy stack of media. However, as the stack continues to lift a whining or grinding noise may be heard. While this noise does not damage the unit, it may be eliminated by not filling the tray to capacity. The level of media that may be loaded without causing this noise will vary, depending on the type of media (glossy, cardstock) loaded. When the tray is filled close to capacity this whining or grinding noise may be heard and that it is normal behavior. To eliminate the noise have them avoid filling the tray to capacity.
