The Auto Media Detect sensor allows for the C7300/C7500/C9300/C9500 to automatically detect the paper thickness and adjust the fuser temperature accordingly. If the Auto Media Detect sensor is ever removed or replaced an adjustment and a calibration will be required. The Adjustment & Calibration procedures must be done after the following conditions: 1. Auto Media Detect mechanism was replaced 2. Registration Roller Assy (A) is removed and/or replaced P/N's C7300/C7500 - 40844306 C9300/C9500 - 41483206 3. EEPROM on the Engine Control Board is replaced In order to do these procedures, the following parts are required: Adjustment Software Unzip this file to a new folder. Pre-Measured Transparency Pack P/N (42527801) Sensor Adjustment Jig P/N (42423701) Computer with Win 95* / 98** / Me** / 2000 / XP Bi-Directional IEEE 1284 parallel cable or a USB cable Small Screwdriver (Jewelers Screwdriver) * In Win 95 only a parallel connection is supported ** Under Win 98/Me if a USB connection is used, then the Oki USB port driver needs to be installed. Supported Connections by Operating System Parallel Connection USB Connection Win95 - Win98 Win98 WinME WinME - Win2000 - WinXP Making the Adjustment 1. Insert the Sensor Adjustment Jig between the two rollers in Registration Roller Assy (A) as shown in the picture below
2. Loosen the single screw that holds the stage in place, and raise/lower the stage so that it is slightly touching the bottom of the Sensor Adjustment Jig
3. Tighten the screw on the stage once it is set properly, and remove the jig (Image below shows a properly set stage)
4. Look at the white datum level (shown below) and see if it sits level between the two black plastic mold edges
5. If the datum level does not sit flush with the black molded edges, turn the adjustment screw (Circled in below image) using a small screwdriver until it is as close as possible (within .5mm)
Calibrating the Sensor 6. First connect the printer to the PC that is being used with either the USB or Parallel cable. NOTES: If USB is used in Win98/Me then the "New Hardware Found" wizard may appear. The Oki USB driver that is on the Adjustment Software disk has to be installed. If Parallel is used then the PC's parallel port must be set to Bi-Directional or ECP. 7. Launch the AdjustMM.exe file 8. On the main program window, check the "Config (C)" box and click on the "Setup Data" button
9. In the Setting window, click on the radio button for the port that the printer is connected too, then click on OK If prompted for a password enter "odc" Important: Do not change any other settings contained within this window
10. Next, click on the "Media" button 11. The AdjustMM window will appear. Enter the thickness of the 4 pre-measured transparency sheets that are in the Transparency Kit in the following order: Window Input Order Window Description Order to Place Sheets in MP Tray Actual Feed Order 4 Sample 1 =101 4 1 3 Sample 2 =97 3 2 2 Sample 3 =102 2 3 1 Check Data =101 1 4 12. After all 4 values are entered, the following screen will be displayed DO NOT CLICK ON "OK" YET (Note: the numbers shown below are examples only they will not match the numbers that you enter)
13. Place the 4 pre-measured transparency sheets in the MP Tray in the order shown above 14. Click on OK, the 4 pre-measured transparency sheets will now be feed through the printer 15. After the sheets are feed, a window saying Adjustment Good should be displayed, Click on OK
16. If the window shown above states Adjustment NG (No Good), then repeat steps 1-15 Product(s): | | C7300; C7300ccs; C7300dxn; C7300n; C7500dxn; C7500n; C7500nccs; C9300; C9300dxn; C9300n; C9300nccs; C9500dxn; C9500dxnccs |
