When the Job Accounting Server software is installed onto a PC, it assigns a random unique ID. Once the Job Accounting Server software communicates with and enables the Job Accounting on a specific printer, that ID gets saved in the printer's flash memory. The flash memory menu now becomes hidden to deter anyone from formatting the memory which would delete the ID. This, however, presents a problem if for some reason the unique server ID is lost or unrecoverable from the PC that the JA software is installed on. Below is a procedure which outlines a way to recover that specific ID which will allow a new installation of the JA Server software to communicate with a printer which already has JA up and running. NOTE: Oki Storage Device Manager is required for this procedure. If the installation CD is not available, SDM may be downloaded from my.okidata.com. 1. Launch Storage Device Manager. 2. Under Printer Discovery, select the appropriate connection for the printer being accessed. 3. Double click on the desired printer. 4. From the File menu click on Printer --> Printer Properties. 5. In the next window click on the + sign next to Variables.
6. Next, click on the + next to OKIJOBACCOUNTINGSERVERID.
7. The number that is shown as the Current value is the Server ID that is stored in the printer. 8. Launch the new installation of the Job Accounting Server software and proceed to setup the printer as new. 9. You will be prompted for the Server ID that is stored in the printer, enter the number retrieved from the Storage Device Manager previously. ©2005 Oki Data Americas, Inc.
